According to Buddha, we all have an extraordinary potential. We have Buddha nature, a natural capacity to fulfill our deepest wishes for lasting happiness, expansive love, liberating wisdom, as well as the ability and skill to bring real benefit to others and our world. To actualise this potential and accomplish these results, Buddha presented us with a clear and structured spiritual path that can be easily integrated with our modern lives.
While traveling the spiritual path is a wonderful journey that takes us, as it is said, from ‘joy to joy’, it is also a profoundly challenging one. There is no question we will encounter many obstacles, in particular, internal challenges. We will come up against our entrenched beliefs in our shortcomings and inadequacies, and our limiting views of what we believe is actually possible. To continue practicing when faced with such obstacles requires confidence.
In this workshop, James will guide us in the development of this spiritual confidence, also known as non-deluded pride. When we practice with such skillful confidence, we feel ourselves naturally progressing beyond our obstacles, into a radically different way of being, one that will empower us in every aspect of our lives.
This workshop is suitable for everyone from complete beginners to experienced meditators.
The Teacher
This meditation workshop will be led by James Baskerville, Principle Teacher of KMC Kent.
James has been practising and teaching Kadampa Buddhism for over twenty years and has engaged in extensive meditation retreats, including silent retreat. He is especially known for his clarity, humour and inspirational presentation of Buddha’s teachings.
