A Love Beyond Romance: A Special Valentine Day’s Course

Love has the power to bring immense joy, yet all too often it can also bring pain and disappointment. When love is not guided by wisdom, it can become entangled with unmet expectations, resentments, and fault-finding. And yet, genuine love transforms our relationships—not only with those closest to us but with the wider world.

Love is more than just a feeling toward another person. It is an internal experience—a mind that naturally generates happiness and radiates goodwill outward. It is a heart that is expansive, open and unrestricted, capable of embracing our entire community and even the world.

To fully unlock this boundless, transcendent love, we need wisdom. We need not only to understand it but to experience it. Wisdom allows us to move beyond the ordinary sense of self and liberates us from the limiting views that hold us back.

In this special Valentine’s half-day course, we will explore the deep, mutually supportive relationship between love and wisdom. We will focus on the liberating wisdom known in Buddhism as emptiness—the beautiful and extraordinary interdependence of all things.

This heartfelt journey will be guided by Senior Buddhist Teacher Chelvi, who will help us discover how love, grounded in wisdom, can open our hearts fully—to others and to life itself.

The Teacher

Chelvi has been a Kadampa Buddhist for over 22 years. She is a mother and social worker, specialising in end of life care. Meditation has helped transform and heal many aspects of Chelvi’s life. She teaches from her own experience and wealth of knowledge, emphasising how to apply Buddhist methods to everyday life with insight and clarity.
