Creating Stability, Confidence, and Happiness from Within
Meditation is a powerful method for healing the mind. When our mind is peaceful, we naturally experience happiness, and when our mind is disturbed, even the best external conditions cannot bring us happiness. In this half-day retreat, you will discover how meditation can help release painful emotions such as anxiety, insecurity, and stress, replacing them with a profound sense of calm, clarity, and confidence.
During the day, you will be guided step by step to:
- Learn how to meditate, with clear instructions that are easy to follow and suitable for everyone
- Understand how meditation works, and why changing the mind is the key to lasting peace
- Integrate meditation into daily life in a practical and realistic way, even with a busy schedule
- Identify and gradually reduce the inner causes of our problems, such as anxiety, insecurity, and emotional tension
- Use meditation as a reliable tool for improving relationships and responding more positively to life’s challenges
- Develop a stable inner peace that does not depend on external circumstances
The emphasis throughout the day is on peace, relaxation, clarity, and practical experience, so that meditation becomes something you can genuinely rely on in everyday life.
The course will be guided by Senior Meditation Teacher James Baskerville, who has over 25 years of experience practising and teaching Kadampa Buddhist meditation. With clarity and warmth, he will present meditation techniques drawn from the Kadampa tradition that are suitable for both complete beginners and those with some experience.
This day is ideal for anyone who wishes to experience the healing power of meditation and begin to build a more peaceful, meaningful, and happy life from within.
The Teacher
This meditation event will be led by James Baskerville, the Resident Teacher at KMC Kent.
James has been practising and teaching Kadampa Buddhism for over twenty years and has engaged in extensive meditation retreats, including silent retreat. He is especially known for his clarity, humour and inspirational presentation of Buddha’s teachings.
