The joy of pure freedom

Discovering the True Source of Lasting Happiness

When it comes to finding happiness, most of us instinctively look for it outside ourselves — in relationships, achievements, status, or possessions. Yet these sources never provide lasting happiness. Often, they give rise to disappointment, conflict, and even greater unhappiness. Still, we continue to search in the same way, caught in a cycle of always seeking, but never truly finding what we long for.

According to Buddha, we remain trapped in this cycle because of a misunderstanding about where happiness actually comes from. In truth, each of us has within our own mind the potential to experience limitless joy and genuine freedom from suffering. This potential is not something distant or reserved for special people — it is something we can begin to uncover right now.

By learning how to access our own reservoir of inner peace, we gain a direct taste of our true nature and potential. From this experience, our understanding naturally deepens, revealing where real freedom lies. As we continue to cultivate this inner peace, a growing sense of joy, clarity, and boundless possibility can gradually permeate our lives.

Join us for this half-day meditation event with KMC Kent’s Principal Teacher, James Baskerville, who will gently guide us in learning how to begin cultivating the pure joy and freedom that already exists within our own mind.

This retreat is suitable for complete beginners as well as experienced practitioners, and offers a meaningful opportunity to reconnect with a deeper, more reliable source of happiness.
