An Exploration of Buddha’s Wisdom Teachings on the Emptiness of the Self

Who we are depends largely on who we think we are. Often, we get caught up in a limited or insecure sense of self, which can keep us stuck in patterns of suffering and dissatisfaction. Our thoughts shape our identity, usually without our conscious choice, creating inner conflict and limiting our potential.

In this day retreat, we will explore Buddha’s profound yet practical teachings on the emptiness of the self—an understanding that reveals our true nature and frees us from self-limiting patterns. Through guided teachings and meditations, you will learn how to transform your mind, release habitual struggles, and cultivate genuine inner freedom.

Emptiness is not a nihilistic void, but a source of unlimited potential, creativity, and joy. By meditating on emptiness, we can gradually become the person we aspire to be, opening the door to deeper fulfillment, peace, and even enlightenment.

This retreat will be taught by KMC Kent’s Principal Teacher, offering clear guidance on applying these wisdom teachings in daily life. Join us to experience the liberating power of understanding the self and awaken your true potential.

Held in West Malling at the beautiful St Benedict’s Centre, surrounded by nature and offering opportunities for gentle walks between sessions, this day meditation course provides a supportive space to slow down and reflect deeply on a profound and timeless Buddhist theme: the emptiness of the self.

You will also enjoy a delicious vegetarian lunch and refreshments during the day and be invited to relax, reflect, and meet like-minded people.
