Managing stress and building resilience

A 4  week series with Buddhist Teacher Chelvi in Ashford

We all know that stressing out just makes things worse. And yet we also feel like we have no choice but to stress and worry about the crises and pressures we face in our lives.

According to Buddha, stress does not come from external situations but rather from our response to them. In other words, it comes from our mind. By learning how to “drop out” of a stressed mind and into a clear and peaceful one we can learn to respond to problems differently, in a more centred, flexible and effective way.

In these series of classes, Chelvi will guide us in a surprisingly simple meditation that can bring about a peaceful, clear mind swiftly. Then, using Buddha’s profound insights into the mind, she will uncover where our stressful response comes from, and show how we can gain new perspectives on our difficulties and respond skilfully and with inner resilience.

Sessions last for an hour. They are suitable for complete beginners and those with more experience of meditation. Classes can be attended on a drop-in basis, as each session is self-contained. Light refreshments will be served before or after the class.

About this series: This 4 week series aims to teach effective, meditation-based solutions to everyday problems taken from the Kadampa Buddhist tradition.

What to Expect

Guided Meditation

Each class begins with guided breathing meditation to help let go of distractions and settle the mind into an experience of inner peace.

Buddhist Teaching

The teacher will then give practical advice, based on the topic of the class, explaining how we can integrate Buddha's timeless wisdom into our busy daily lives.

The class will conclude with a second guided meditation to help us take the teaching to heart. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions.
